Self-defense Personal Security Devices For Women
Pepper Spray
Pepper spray is an excellent option for women to carry in their purses or even on their key chains. This spray comes in a small aerosol can that when the button is pressed a stream of pepper spray ejects. If aimed at the attacker's face and eyes it will cause them to stop in pain. The spray does not cause long-term harm but it does cause immediate pain that in most cases will stop the attacker in his tracks and give the woman time to escape. If you buy a pepper spray to carry with you then you should try it out once or twice to ensure you know how to use it and that the spray works well.
Stun Guns
Stun guns are another personal security device that women should consider carrying with them. A stun gun is a small hand held device that delivers a high voltage shock when it is touched to an individual for approximately three to five seconds. Once shocked the individual will lose control of their muscles, lose their balance, become confused and disoriented, and fall to the ground. The individual will recover completely within five to 10 minutes, but this is enough time for the woman to get away.
Stun Baton
A stun baton is a long metal baton, similar to a flashlight that has an electric shock head. This baton allows you to keep an attacker at arm's length and you can shock them without having to be very close to them. This is an excellent way to protect yourself and fend off would be attackers.
These are just some of the security devices available for women. There are other options available as well that will help women protect themselves in a scary situation. Hopefully every women out there carrying a stun gun, stun baton, or pepper spray will never need to use it. But in the case where it becomes necessary it could be a lifesaver. All women should carry some form of self-defense with them at all times, especially if they travel alone at night.

Caitlina Fuller is a freelance writer. There are all kinds of personal security devices women may use to protect themselves. Some of those include pepper spray, stun guns, and stun batons. Stun guns are another personal security device that women should consider carrying with them. A stun gun is a small hand held device that delivers a high voltage shock.
Stun Gun : Non Lethal Personal Safety Product | Legality
Stun guns are legal in all but a few states and in most places no license or permit is required to carry it. All this stopping power and still stun guns remain "Non Lethal".Stun guns are available in various sizes from the size of a matchbox to a larger telescopic baton size. Stun Guns use batteries as a source of power and most are rechargeable. It should only be carried as way to protect yourself as a last resort and, from that perspective, it is an ideal non lethal personal safety product for women who go out at night on their own or have to walk through dangerous neighborhoods.
How Stun Guns Work ?
Stun guns use high voltage and low amperage to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. The stun gun does not rely on high amperage or pain for results, rather most stun guns operate on milliamps hence making it a non lethal personal safety product. The energy stored in the gun is dumped into the attacker's muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker's blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid. In short, he is unable to produce energy for his muscles, and his body is unable to function properly. The stun gun also interrupts the tiny neurological impulses that control and direct voluntary muscle movement. When the attacker's neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun he loses his balance. Should the attacker be touching you, the current will NOT pass to your body!
Stun guns have been proven to be safe and effective non-lethal self defense products. They do not cause any permanent damage to an attacker. The effects on the heart or other major organs are very insignificant. Stun guns can be purchased for reasonable prices at Safety and Security Now.
Stun Gun Restrictions:In most states, stun gun laws permit their use for home protection. But many States, counties and countries have incorporated stun gun laws that have placed restrictions and regulations and on size, usage and/or registration of stun guns to the general public.
Every one must know and abide by the local stun gun laws. Ignorance of stun gun law is never a viable defense.States where Stun Guns are restricted: Indiana (no Tasers), Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, Illinois.
Cities where Stun Guns are restricted: Annapolis(MD), Baltimore(MD), Baltimore County(MD), Chicago(IL), Dension / Crawfor COunty(IA)Countries where Stun Guns are restricted: Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Hong Kong, India (POLICE USE ONLY), Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.

Pepper Spray Ownership Comes With Responsibilities And Often Times Fear
Personal security is something all women should be familiar with. It is a very good idea to keep pepper spray on you at all times. However, there are many things you should know about pepper spray and you might even consider taking a training class or get information on how to prepare yourself for it. This might sound silly but it won't be the first time you spray it incorrectly.
Pepper spray protection canisters are also known as OC and come from chili peppers. This type of spray is not the same thing as mace. Pepper spray is an inflammatory and it works instantaneously upon making contact with the skin. Mace can take up to 5 seconds before it can go into effect on an attacker. When pepper spray is sprayed on an attacker it will cause the blood pressure to increase, the heart to beat faster, and even ventilation. It will cause the attacker to begin coughing and choke. They might even vomit. If pepper spray is sprayed into the eye area on the face it can even cause temporary blindness. All membranes will swell to the point that the attacker can only breathe. They will be entirely disabled. Pepper spray protection can save your life.
Because of the severity of this type of defense mechanism it is important to seek pepper spray training so you know how to use it properly. Proper use includes the moment you grab for the spray and intend to use it. The canister needs to be facing in the right direction so you don't spray yourself and there might even be a safety latch you need to undo. You should learn how to test a pepper spray canister. Personal security is very important but you will not have any security if you don't know how to use this weapon.
When you consider pepper spray protection it is important to be able to react quickly. If you cannot respond fast enough in a dangerous situation it will remain at the bottom of your purse and you will never have the opportunity to use it on the assailant. Many people are afraid to use the pepper spray also. These two elements are the primary reason why some form of pepper spray training is very important.
An attacker can be stopped dead in their tracks instantly when you use a canister of pepper spray on them properly. Just spraying the OC canister for one quick second can stop an attacker for over 30 minutes. You don't have to worry about causing permanent damage to a person when you spray them with pepper spray. It is very safe to use and designed to temporarily disable an attacker for personal security if you feel threatened.
There are possible disadvantages to pepper spray protection you must be aware of. Pepper spray may not work in all cases. It is common for people who are on heavy drugs such as psychotics or under some type of influence to not be as affected by the affects of pepper spray. They might show the physical signs of the pepper spray swelling up their skin and other symptoms of the spray working, but they will not be sufficiently affected. This means an attacker under an influence will feel no pain and they will not be totally disabled. That is why when you seek pepper spray training you also might consider learning a few basic self defense moves also. The last thing you would want is for an attacker who does not feel the pain of pepper spray to get a hold of the OC canister and use it on you.
There are laws and regulations regarding pepper spray protection also. Even though you have pepper spray on you for personal security if you use it improperly you may go to jail or suffer serious fines. The entire purpose of pepper spray is designed for protection and self-defense. It is a crime to use it for any other reason other than that. This is because the contents are very dangerous. Children could be injured if they got a hold of your pepper spray canister too. If you cannot prove to a police officer you were defending yourself when you used it you could suffer by spending time in jail.
Pepper spray training is something to be considered if you are looking for a method of personal protection because you spend a lot of time alone at night in public places. It is important to receive proper training or instructional information on how to use this safe non-lethal weapon. You should understand the affects and not be afraid to use it. It is important to know how to react quickly when an attacker approaches you.

How Cheaters Use the Internet to Seek New Romance
If you suspect that your partner is cheating on you, they may be using the internet to do so. Why? Because the internet has made it very easy for cheaters to seek new romance. Not only is the internet making online affairs easy and convenient, but many cheaters think the internet makes it harder to get caught. Unfortunately for them and luckily for you, the computer often tells the tale.
As for how men and women use the internet to seek new romance online, there are a number of different approaches taken. One of those is social networking websites. Now, it is important to know that social networking sites, like MySpace, have increased in popularity over the past few years. Just because your partner uses a social networking website, it does not mean that they are cheating on you. They may truly just be interested in connecting with old friends. Be cautious, however, of a profile that you cannot see or access or the appearance of old girlfriends.
Dating websites are also how many cheaters use the internet to seek new romance online. Unfortunately, dating websites are more risky than social networking websites. If your husband, wife, girlfriend, or boyfriend uses an online dating site, they may have the intention of actually meeting the person at the other end of the computer. This is when an affair stops becoming just an emotional affair and often starts becoming a physical affair. If you ever find that your partner is using an online dating website, be aware because there is a good chance that they are cheating on you or intend to start soon.
As it was previously stated, the internet does make it easier for cheaters to start romances online, but it is also relatively easy to catch a cheater online. To get started, check your computer’s internet history. To do so, open up a new internet explorer window. Along the top of the page, you will see the history icon. This icon is in the shape of a clock with a green arrow. Clicking on this will tell you all of the websites visited in the past few days. Be suspicious of no information, as it may mean that the history was purposely cleared.
A keylogger program, also occasionally referred to as a keyword tracker, can also be installed on your computer. These programs work to capture each word that is typed on your computer. If you think that your partner is communicating with their sex partner or partners online through email or in chat room sessions, you may be able to see exactly what it is they are saying. These types of programs can be expensive, but they can also provide you with the proof that you need.
You can also always take the direct approach. If your partner is using the computer and acting secretive, demand to see what they are looking at. Walk over to the computer immediately, request that they get up and you take their seat. View the computer’s internet history immediately. This allows you to see what they have been looking at online before giving a computer savvy cheater time to cover their tracks.
Another approach is to utilize items and equipment that is available for purchase. There are phone loggers, test kits, gps devices, hidden cameras, clues, etc., available for on-line purchase that can help you catch a cheater.

Could You Become a Victim of Home Invasion?
Well think again. Home invasion as a crime is rising faster that any other crime in America. People who commit home invasions have more than robbery as a motive – they get off on terrorizing the family, forcing them to do unthinkable things to protect their loved ones. They are warped individuals who get a thrill from the terror they instill – and they seek even greater gratification, instilling greater terror, as time goes on. They are people you do NOT want in your life!
So, how can you ensure you will not become a victim of home invasion? What can you do to protect you and your family? The single most important action you can take is to not let a home invader into your home in the first place. Sound silly doesn’t it? But that’s exactly what people do - all across the country, every day of the week. They let these people into their home, knowingly and willingly. How can that be? Because most people are good and honest - and believe everyone else is as well.
Home invaders appear on your doorstep as people in trouble – they have a flat tire, they’ve lost their dog, they themselves are lost. Home invaders appear on your doorstep as delivery people – they have a package or special delivery letter and are wearing the appropriate uniform. Home invaders appear on your doorstep as service people – you have a gas leak, a water leak, need termite inspection or water softener maintenance. All of these people are wearing the right clothes for the job. They sound plausible. They may even have a badge or license identifying them as who they say they are. But they’re home invaders in disguise.
So how do you avoid opening the door to home invaders? How do you know who is real and who is not? Use the following as guidelines for opening your door to a stranger:
1. If they have a problem, offer to make a phone call for them. Do NOT allow them into your home to use the phone. This may sound cold and cruel – but it ensures your safety. And, while you’re making that phone call, most home invaders will disappear into the night.
2. If you’re not expecting a delivery that must be signed for, ask the person to leave a phone number where you can verify the delivery. Tell them to return tomorrow with the delivery. And in the meantime, call the number you’ve been given to verify delivery.
3. If someone arrives at you door telling you there is a problem, ask to see their identification, write the badge number down and call the service they represent. Stolen or bogus identification will not be in the database of the water department, gas department, or termite service provider. And while you’re checking the badge number, most home invaders remove themselves from the premises, never to be seen again.
4. Make sure your front door is solid metal with a peephole. Replace all doors that have decorative glass panels with a solid door – a home invader will come through the glass panel while you’re making your phone call. Use the peephole for identifying persons who arrive on your doorstep – never open the door, even if it has a chain, to see who is there!
5. Make sure all outside doors, windows and frames are of the highest quality, in good repair and are fitted with deadbolts. They should also be connected to and protected by your home alarms systems. This will prevent a home invader from completing a “smash” entry into your home just because it looks weakly secured.
6. Educate everyone in the family - even your 3 year-old - on home invasion determent. Tell them to NEVER open the door to anyone. A family member will have a key – everyone else should be kept outside. And if the man at the door says someone is hurt – call 911 immediately. Tell the operator the situation and request police assistance.
Good habits can protect you and your family. When not at home, keep all doors and windows locked and dead bolted. Keep your garage door down and locked at all times. Install bright outside lighting. Remove overgrown bushes and shrubs. Protect your perimeter with a home security surveillance system. And arm your system at all times.
These habits, coupled with the steps to prevent admission to your home, will go a long, long way in preventing the brutal crime of home invasion. Keeping your family safe is of paramount importance – make sure you develop a plan that does just that.

Home Alarms Systems
After my house was broken into, crime became a reality of my life. Sure, I’d heard all the statistics but I always thought -- “Not in My Backyard!” Was I a fool -- I locked the barn after the horse was gone. I bought a home security surveillance system after having my valuables taken and my personal privacy violated.
In my quest to keep others from sharing the same awful fate, I would like to share what I learned in my quest for my own home alarms system. Hopefully, it will help you preserve the sanctity of your home.
WHAT TYPE OF HOME SECURITY SYSTEM DO YOU NEED?
The easiest way to think about what kind of system you need is by your housing situation --
1. Do you live in a rental house or apartment? Then your best choice of home alarms systems is a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Security System or a Portable Alarm System.
2. Do you live in a home you are purchasing? Then your best choice of home security surveillance systems is a Wired or Wireless System, preferably with monitoring service.
FEATURES OF HOME SECURITY AND SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS
1. DIY Security Systems or Portable Alarm Systems -- Best for Rentals and Apartments.
The benefits of DIY Security Systems and Portable Alarms are that they are inexpensive, easy to install and can be taken with you when you move. These systems can be purchased at your local hardware store or online for between $100 to $300 depending on quality and features.
The disadvantage of wireless and portable alarm systems is that batteries must be checked regularly to ensure your system is working properly. Investing in a DIY Security System powered by electricity with backup in event of outage can ensure that your security system is always up and running. A second disadvantage is that you have to install them yourself. If you are less than a handy-man this may not be a good option for you.
Features can vary widely on these systems – along with the price. Your system can be as little as one monitoring a few doors and windows to a full-blown system monitoring all entry points with motion detection in all rooms.
Although these systems do not offer the full benefit of monitored security and surveillance systems, they can still be very effective at preventing unwanted intrusion into your home. Having this amount of security far surpasses having no security at all.
2. Wired or Wireless Home Security Surveillance Systems -- Best for Homeowners.
The benefits of Wired or Wireless Home Security Surveillance Systems are that they can provide emergency monitoring systems that alert the authorities in the event of any break in your security barrier. And with the correct installation, these home security systems can reduce your Homeowners Insurance by 10% or more.
The disadvantage of a wireless system is the same as those of a DIY system -- batteries power it and the batteries must be checked frequently to ensure the system is working properly. You also may have to install your system yourself, in which case you need to be sure you have the requisite skills.
Features can vary widely depending on price paid. Your system can have window and door sensors, motion detectors, perimeter sensors, surveillance cameras, panic alarm buttons and fire alarms. A good alarm company will also include professional installation -- making sure that all entry points are covered, that the system operates properly, and they will give you a detailed explanation about how the system works.
The main difference between wired and wireless home security systems is the cost. Wireless systems can have many of the features of wired system at a significantly lower price-- yet can be equally effective at preventing break-ins.
CONCLUSION
You will need to base your home security surveillance system decision on your budget and needs. It is important to take your time and shop around until you understand security products and have narrowed your needs to those that specifically apply to your situation. Don’t decide on the first system you see. Make sure the system you buy is the system that is right for you. But do buy a home security system -- for your peace of mind and mine!
Once you decide on those items you need, check out Safety and Security Now. They have a complete line of Safety and Surveillance equipment at reasonable prices that are designed to give you pease of mind.

Keeping Your Home Safe With Home Security
are away. Unfortunately, the greatest number of breaking and entering occurs
when families are on vacation or away for longer periods. By installing a home
security system, this dramatically reduces the chance of your home being
burglarized. In addition, a home security system has other features such as
options for calling your local fire or police department by pushing one button.
Elderly or small children in the household would benefit from this feature, as a
live person would be available in any state of emergency without using the
phone.
Home Security Systems may sound like a lot of work, especially when most
families are constantly on the go. The key is to find the right system for you.
Many Home Security companies offer choices that fit your lifestyle and you can
choose what is most convenient for your household. In addition there are many
home security systems available for the do it yourself individual. A little
investigating of what is available may prove to be financially beneficial. Devices for the DIY individual are available at Safety and Security Now.
Here are the basic choices to choose from...
Simple Security; These options have less bells and whistles. The system may
include motion sensors, sound detectors, and photocells. Individual window
alarms could be set in place, do-it-yourself wireless systems, and timers that
would turn on lights at a programmed time to create an illusion that someone is
home.
Other options with the Simple Security would include; Interior alarms that
monitor intrusions inside the home including, panic switches, noise detection,
motion sensors, photoelectric beams (light beams that trigger when interrupted)
and pressure mats (flat switches that trigger by footsteps). In addition to home
security systems, adding dead bolts, and “heavy-duty strike plates,” can help
you secure your home. Outdoor motion detectors are sensor lights that also offer
assistance in home security.
The last option would be a Perimeter Alarm system, where any perimeter being
violated will ring a bell, or siren scaring most burglars away.
When it comes to the security and safety of your property and family, know that
there is a solution for keeping your home safe from violators. Be advised,
anything new takes a short time to adjust too, but before long, it becomes
systematic in your everyday living.
People with a security system never think of it as a burden to punch in their
code when they enter their home with their children, or any thought at all for
that matter. I guess that is what we call that little peace of mind. Home
security gives them the comfort they need just knowing that their family is
safer.
Let’s face it, we live in a world moving toward increasing crime. When we think
of people out in the world who have suffered a fatality, or injury related to a
burglary, we often think, “This could never happen to me.” The fact is it can
happen to you. It just hasn’t happened yet.
The fact is no one is excluded from criminals’ notion to steal, harm, or take a
life. Criminals do not think in the same manner as we do, therefore, we must
take extra precautions to guard our family and home.
In addition to burglary, fires and carbon monoxide claims a life each day.
According to statistics, over 1000 person’s die from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Another 10,000 fall injury to carbon monoxide and/or fire. Fires claim more
lives than carbon monoxide, therefore adding a CO, (Carbon Monoxide Alarm) Smoke
alarm, and a home security device to your home is not much to pay compared to
the lives you might save.
